Once upon a time, there was a boy who wanted to be a detective.

He spent his days reading mystery novels, solving puzzles, and helping others.

As his deductive skills became more and more refined, he would help the people in his town with a variety of cases.

He was known as a local hero for solving small cases. And although he liked being a detective, what he liked more was being right.

One day, his parents told him that his grandma would start living with them for a while. They got along great at first!

"Have a cookie!"

But he noticed there were times where something seemed...off?

"What's wrong dear?"

The final straw was when his grandma didn't feed Oliver, the family dog, when the rest of the family were out for the night.

How could she forget that? Unless...?!

There had to be a motive to her actions.

Could it be that with Oliver out of the way, no one could smell out where Grandma REALLY hid the cookies?!

But he needed more proof, so the next day, he tried sneaking into grandma's room.

[O.S. cackling]

"HA!! Where are you going deary? Give granny a kiss! Ahahah!!"

[O.S. laughing]

"And this was when he was a little baby!"

This was clearly an act of revenge!

There's only one thing I can do. I've got to figure out what's inside that box!

But without the key around grandma's neck, there was no real way of opening the box.

So in an act of revenge, he hides it away for safekeeping.

The next day, the sounds of his grandma desperately searching through her room wakes him up.

He gets up and finds his grandma.

"I know all along you've been hiding something from me! It's time to reveal your true nature, grandma!"

"You're right deary, I have been hiding something from you."

But instead of admitting she was evil, she tells him that lately she's been starting to develop memory issues.

The reason she's been staying over was so his family could watch over her as she takes her medicine that she keeps in her box.

She's upset and ashamed because she must've misplaced the box and can't remember what happened to it.

Looking back, all he was really doing was picking evidence to confirm his beliefs, instead of deducing the conclusion from the facts.

Knowing that he made a mistake, he admits to grandma he had taken the box. He apologizes for suspecting her, and he promises to make things right.

And ever since that day, he uses his detective skills to help his grandma, working through puzzles together to help exercise her brain.

He learns that being right isn't what being a detective is about. It's about helping others and finding the truth.

And if you don't allow for outside perspectives and you're close-minded, then you'll come to the wrong conclusion and you'll hurt yourself and the people around you.
