Hi Bernabe! Wow this is amazing! I love your art, your color palette is brilliant!
This is an extraordinary piece, the animation is so well developed as well as the story. I think this is the only project that combines animation as well as full coloured drawings, I can’t imagine how much effort you put on it!
I’m glad to have shared the program with such great artists as you. Congratulations on finishing the program! :)

Just a mondo super job on this. I've been following your work throughout the class and it only got better and better. I love the concept, dreams are a tricky topic to capture and visualize, I really like how you portrayed them, what those "dreams" could mean for the one dreamer them, and your Main Protagonist Axolotl has such energy, a unique personality, and the character designs are so creative and colorful (without being a rainbow explosion on screen). You effects at the beginning were interesting choices to say the least, but I remembered them and I feel that this concept has come such a long way. Really, thank you for all your effort that you have given us during the class, you are a real inspiration and I am grateful for you and your work of art of a show reel. I hope you have a great rest of your summer and I hope to see more from you, like this would make an amazing addition to a creators youtube channel, pateron, or webcomic, ya know. But if you have plans for more episodes of the Oniric Hunter, I would be more than happy to watch them.

*On some small notes, I wish intercom/HQ gal had a bigger role than talking on the intercoms acting as intel, and maybe sound balance the roar of your monster at time stamp 6:53, nearly blew out my headphones.

Wow!! Your submission is amazing! It’s quite long but all so clear and essential and impacts the story. I love your narration to go with the visuals too! So many incredible images, dynamic movements, and layers. The story had great depth, led the eye really well, and the colour codes really made different characters stand out, particularly as different from the real world.

I wasnt sure what the message would be from the beginning as the teddy seemed to grow really quickly at the beginning but the climax and resolution deepened it so much. I loved the heartfelt moment, it really was a great pay off from the other action and dark feelings before. You varied and diversified your shots, pacing, and emotions really well!

to begin with, I was a bit confused about why the bear (dad) was in space and why he was hunted by the creatures/aliens. Maybe slow a bit on the text saying about the nightmare as i struggled to have time to read and digest the information, which could help clarify that they were meaning to help. Maybe you could clarify the motivations of Act 2 more clearly as i was confused if he was a prisoner scared of their kidnapper or became their toy or being saved.

I remember seeing an early stage of your story and I have loved seeing what it’s become! You’ve developed it to such a high standard! the story and animation.. incredible. Your storyreel is so intriguing, i love the character, the plot, the world building, the message, the emotions… such a ride and the ending came together so so well! Well done!!

Thank you very much for the comments, I think I want the viewer to not be clear about things at the beginning to generate a hook and that doubt will seek you to continue watching, although I should still explain the universe and its rules better in the following acts so perhaps clearest.

Your submission is really awesome!

The character design is fantastic, the movements wonderfully dynamic and the animation elements are amazing as well!

The only tiny thing to improve might be that you need a bit of work on the transitions between scenes/setpieces, as in establishing what the characters are trying to do (specifically I noticed this at minute 1:26, where it's not immediately clear what the characters are trying to accomplish by tying the bear in the tree).

It's so amazing to see this project in its final week! You are amazingly talented, and I wish you tons of success!!!

I really enjoyed the interaction between your two main characters. I feel I can understand their personality seeing them interact side by side. Your choice of audios and transitions were very successful throughout your reel. I still am A little bit confused between the story of the late wife, to then overcoming the fears of fatherhood. Other than that I really enjoyed your visual adventure you lead us through, I think one of my favorite parts is when the main character is literally thrown into the ring to face its fear head on. Following your story from the beginning has been such a pleasure seeing it continue to build and evolve. Congratulations on finishing the program, and good luck with the rest of your creative journey!

Hey, Bernabe! Congratulations on finishing your storyreel!

I love the color you've added to the drawings. The colored eyeball is especially cool and trippy. I also love the music you added.

I think this version is definitely easier to follow, though it leans a bit more on exposition than I'd prefer. Still, clarity is more important in something like a storyreel, so great changes/additions.

The western and martial arts sequence is beautifully composed and animated. That sequence alone would shine in a portfolio, let alone in the context of the full story.

The images around 5:00 are beautifully done! You can almost feel the force of that collision!

I really like what you've done with the whole third act! It really brings the story all together!

The storyreel probably runs just a little bit long and could lose one or two of the settings while still working very well, but they are all so fun that I couldn't suggest any one or two over the others. Maybe that's a sign that they all belong. Anyway, I'm so glad I got to watch this final version! You should be incredibly proud of this because it really is great!

I really enjoyed watching the whole movie and how adventurous it is but maybe at the beginning of act 1 I didn’t understand why the bear got into the adventure though the whole story was structured good and act 3 was a good twist at the end! Wishing you all the best!!

Hey Bernabe,

You've knocked it out of the park with this new version, you could be really proud of it! You've resolved quite a lot of story issues in this final version, which made it easier to follow. The addition of new sequences made it very entertaining as well! For example, I really loved when the two went through different worlds (starting at the western world).

It's still a complex story in terms of the different layers of dreaming / nightmares and some aspects may still be difficult for first time viewers, but it was so much clearer than the previous version that I saw!

Great work, can't wait to see more.

This is wild, energetic, beautiful, and totally unique. The story is so bold and confident that it just kind of takes us along for the ride and that is awesome. The concept of the dream protectors is great and I love the bear. His emotions and designs are incredible, even though he is mostly silent. The mixtures of genres are great and because you are a god-level illustrator, they come to life and are exciting and compelling. I love the ending, it surprisingly hits hard and adds another level of beauty to your story. I didn't see the end coming and the embrace between the dad and the baby is just the best. Bravo!

For clarity, some of the story, characterization and rules can be clearer. Obviously, you are going to explain all of this beautifully in your script, but the mechanics of the dreams and the motivations of the dream warriors can be clarified a bit more because at times things got confusing as to how exactly they were helping the bear.

Regardless, this is an original, passionate, and vivid thrill ride that I hope comes fruition so that the entire world can enjoy this. You have been producing amazing work from week one, and it is a pleasure to see the culmination of your hard work and artistry. Great, great job and wishing you the best of luck. I hope to see your creations on the big screen ( or any screen) soon!

Hey Bernabe
Congratulations man!!! such a good and a hard work you have there. I really like all the different emotions that your story when through.
Just a final comment even I love all the actions scenes I didn't feel to related with the protagonist fears. Dreams and nightmares could be a great opportunity to symbolize those fears but don't get me wrong like I told you I love the actions scenes.
I hope to see more of your story in the future! awesome work !!!

You're right, I didn't add a justification for the type of sequences, I had the idea that he was a fan of the movies and those genres would be reflected in his dreams but I just didn't have the time to add it anymore.
